US rig count increases for fourth week (Nov 13, 2009)

US drilling activity continued to increase for the fourth week, up by 23 rotary rigs to 1,101 working but still well below the 1,941 units drilling during the comparable week a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. does not plan to drill natural gas wells within the New York City watershed.

Petrobras to use ultradeepwater drillship off Angola (Oct 22, 2009)

A subsidiary of Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) will use the Petrobras 10000 ultradeepwater drillship for work off Angola.

US drilling activity was little changed from a week ago, down just 1 unit with 1,040 rotary rigs working the week ended Oct. 16.
