HOUSTON, Aug. 18 -- Chevron Pacific Indonesia is moving ahead with its pilot chemical injection project in giant Minas oil field in Sumatra, Indonesia (OGJ, Apr. 21, 2008, p. 41).
The company let contract to Technip for detail engineering, project management, procurement assistance, and construction management for water treatment and cooling facilities and a polymer and surfactant mixing plant, including chemical injection packages and production facilities.
Chevron began chemical injection last year. It hopes the project will boost recovery at Minas and surrounding fields.
The Minas resource has been estimated at 4 billion bbl of oil initially in place.
