Equipment costs rise moderately
Costs for the five equipment items that make up the Nelson-Farrar miscellaneous equipment cost index were mixed in the 2002-03 period. The miscellaneous equipment index average rose from 949.5 to 957.7 in 24 months.
Greatest increase among the components making up the equipment average was that of pumps and compressors, from 1,510.0 in January 2002 to 1,546.9 in Novmber 2003.
Engines increased only slightly during the period. Instruments gained 14.7 during the 2002-03 period examined.
Electrical machinery dropped from 532.7 in January 2002 to 517.7 in December 2003.
The heat exchangers' average did not change from January 2002 to December 2003.
