Costs for the five equipment items which make up the Nelson-Farrar miscellaneous equipment cost index were mixed in the 1998-1999 period. The miscellaneous equipment index average dropped from 924.4 to 913.5 in 24 months.

Greatest increase among the components making up the equipment average was that of instruments, from 961.8 in January 1998 to 1,009.4 in December 1999.

Heat exchangers rose and then dropped significantly during the period. Engines gained 17.7 during the 1998-99 period examined.

The pumps and compressors average was 1,437.3 in December 1999, and 1,398.6 in January 1998. this showed a 38.7 point increase for the 2-year period.
