Equipment costs rise moderately

Costs for the five equipment items which make up the Nelson-Farrar miscellaneous equipment cost index were mixed in the 2012-2013 period. The miscellaneous equipment index average rose from 1,287.6 to 1,328.5 in the time period.
Greatest increase among the components making up the equipment average was that of pumps & compressors, from 2,135.7 in January 2012 to 2,230.2 in December 2013.
Electrical machinery remained mostly the same, 515.0 in January 2012; 517.7 in December 2013. Engines remained basically the same during the period.
Heat exchanger dropped from 1,253.8 in January 2012 to 1,171.5, and then rose to 1,305.0 by December 2013.
The instruments average changed from 1,481.6 in January 2012 to 1,538.8 in December 2013.
