The system is based on lightweight stand-alone single channel units, each of which operates independently of any others. It uses the Cellular Seismic acquisition system, which divides the survey area into a number of radio cells, each controlled by a cell access node, which gives a large bandwidth for data transmission.

Integrated into each unit are GPS for positioning and synchronization, lithium-ion batteries with capacity for a normal deployment cycle, and a large high density memory sufficient to record days of acquisition.

If real time recording of data is required, users can deploy either wireless or fiber optic links between the cells.

Unite can be adapted to individual customer needs.

Options include an external battery pack for longer use, enhanced memory capacity for longer period recording between data harvesting, cable option between units, multiple channel units, and a digital sensor interface.

Firing head activates chemical cutting tool

A new chemical cutter firing head, which is designed to activate a chemical cutting tool without electrical cable, is suited for coiled and small diameter tubing when cutting deviated or horizontal wells.

The unit requires a pin to strike an explosive charge with just the right amount of energy to ignite it. The firing head achieves this hydraulically by building up a precise amount of differential pressure behind the firing pin.

Measuring 1316 in. in diameter, the hydraulically powered firing head requires no electric cable to activate the chemical cutter.

The product features an integral ball release and fishing neck so that should the cutting string become stuck a ball can be dropped and a controlled release can be carried out immediately.
