Ronald J. Unnerstall

Vice President

Ron Unnerstall has over 30 years experience in the petroleum industry with a particular focus on the manufacture and marketing of petroleum products. Over 21 years of this experience has been in all aspects of oil refining, spanning 4 refinery locations as well as Chicago and London.

Prior to accepting the role as the Vice President for BP’s Refining and Logistics Technology group in 2012, Ron was the Business Leader in BP’s petrochemicals business for 2 years, based in Shanghai, China.

Prior to that role, Ron was the President of BP-Husky Refining LLC based in Toledo, Ohio, USA. This is a 50/50 joint venture between BP and Husky Energy of Canada. Ron came to the refinery in 2006 and presided over a period of marked improvement in all aspects of its performance.

Ron earned an executive MBA from Stanford University in 2001, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1983 with highest distinction.

Ron has played an active leadership role in the communities in which he has lived, serving on boards for the local Symphony, local Hospital, and Children’s Science Museum, and has been an active member of the Rotary Club. His interests include tennis, running, biking, the arts, and history. Ron is married and has two children, a daughter age 22, and a son, age 19.
