Eagleville field in the South Texas Eagle Ford shale is the largest US oil field, the Energy Information Administration said in a recent supplement to an earlier report, "US Crude Oil and Natural Gas Proved Reserves, 2013."

Eagleville produced 238 million bbl. The second largest US field was Spraberry trend in Texas, with 99 million bbl, followed by Prudhoe Bay in Alaska, with 79 million bbl.

EIA ranked the top 100 US oil and gas fields based on estimated proved reserves as of 2013, the latest year for which statistics were available.

The agency did not discuss proved reserves by field, but EIA instead listed production levels by field.

Eagleville, which spans 14 counties, and Briscoe Ranch represented two new additions from the Eagle Ford to both EIA's top 10 and top 100 US oil fields.

Other top 10 oil fields were Wattenberg in Colorado, Briscoe Ranch, Kuparuk River in Arkansas, Thunder Horse in the Gulf of Mexico, Wasson in Texas, Belridge South in California, and Atlantic in the Gulf of Mexico, EIA said.

The US overall in 2013 had 36.5 billion bbl of crude oil and lease condensate proved reserves, up from 22.3 billion bbl in 2009. The top 100 US oil fields represented 56.4% of the 2013 total and 62.3% of the 2009 total.
