David Lawler has accepted the role of chief executive officer of BP PLC.'s Lower 48 Onshore business and resigned his role as executive vicepresident and chief operating officer of SandRidge Energy Inc.


Paul Boling, vice-president, chief financial officer, secretary, and treasurer of Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. retired on Aug. 11 after more than 11 years with the exploration and production company. Boling's contributions to the company included raising over $2.5 billion in senior notes, borrowing base, and equity during his tenure. David Pitts, currently Carrizo's vice-president and chief accounting officer, will assume the role of chief financial officer and treasurer, in addition to his current duties. Pitts has been with Carrizo since 2010. Boling will stay on as a consultant to aid in the transition.


Continental Resources Inc. has named Jack Stark as president and chief operating officer. He succeeds W.F. Bott, who stepped down from the position in September. Stark joined Continental in 1992 and has served as senior vice-president of exploration since 1998. Harold Hamm, Continental chairman and chief executive officer, said: "This new role will expand [Stark's] operational leadership, positioning him to continue playing a critical role in leading Continental as we execute ahead of schedule on our 5-year plan, and develop our deep inventory into the future."
