Houston, have announced a partnership whereby PDI's consulting expertise is combined with GeoQuest's Merak software to present a complete risk analysis, portfolio optimization, and planning solution for the oil and gas industry.

Houston, have announced a partnership whereby PDI's consulting expertise is combined with GeoQuest's Merak software to present a complete risk analysis, portfolio optimization, and planning solution for the oil and gas industry. The result is an enhanced version of Merak's capital planning software.

Schlumberger

Houston, has announced the launch of the second in its new line of advanced stimulation vessels for deepwater service. The vessel, DeepSTIM II, is equipped with the latest in antiroll systems, environmental waste containment, data acquisition and transmission, and fluid engineering. DeepSTIM II joins its sister vessel in Gulf of Mexico operations.

Alto Technology Resources Inc.

Houston, has announced that Floyd Sabins has joined the company as senior technical consultant. Sabins will be responsible for Alto's client training, academic support program, and bus-iness development.

Sabins, who holds a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Texas-Austin and a PhD in geology from Yale University, has 40 years of experience in remote sensing data acquisition and interpretation, most of which was with Chevron's research subsidiary. The Chevron team led by Sabins contributed to major oil discoveries in the Sudan, Papua New Guinea, and the Unayzah Trend in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Sabins served as an adjunct professor in the earth and space sciences department at UCLA. He also served as an advisor and consultant to the United Nations, National Science Foundation, National Academy of Sciences, NASA, US State Department, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Alto Technology Resources is a wholly owned subsidiary of Texaco. Its Center of Excellence in Houston houses experts in hyperspectral remote sensing, Global Information System (GIS) technology, mathematical and economic geology, mining, agriculture, forestry, and oceanography.

Big Inch Marine Systems

Houston, has appointed David Hernandez chief operations manager, Richard "Rick" Barnett engineering manager, and Victor Vargas chief engineer. Additionally, A.J. "Tony" Moore has rejoined Big Inch in its Aberdeen office as marketing manager for Europe and the Middle East. This series of moves has been made as Big Inch gears up for the growing offshore market in 2001.

Big Inch Marine Systems, a subsidiary of Stolt Offshore, manufactures a wide range of proprietary diver installed and diverless products for new construction tie-ins, repair, and hot tapping applications on high pressure underwater oil and gas pipelines.

Petro-Chem Development Co. Inc.

Tulsa, has announced election of William C. Gibson as president and member of the board. He will be responsible for Petro-Chem's New York City and Tulsa offices, as well as activities in numerous other locations worldwide.

Gibson has a degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and over 25 years of experience in the design and manufacture of fired heaters and furnaces for the refining and petrochemical industry.

Troy-Ikoda Group (TIG) Ltd.

Twickenham and Windsor, England, is the name of the new consultancy formed by the merger of Troy Petroleum Management Services Ltd. and Ikoda Ltd. Managing directors of both companies will jointly lead the merged company.

TIG brings together the abilities of Troy as an independent reserve evaluator with Ikoda's technology and expertise in 3D and 4D seismic interpretation, and petroacoustic software products. The new company will provide a broad range of technical services spanning exploration, reservoir characterization, simulation, field development planning, drilling management, and oil field operations.

CRC-Evans Pipeline International Inc.

Houston, has announced sale of certain assets of its CRC-Key Inc. subsidiary to Key & Associates Inc., a new corporation formed to service the concrete weighting market within North America.

CRC-Key will continue in the pipeline weighting business, operating under the name CRC-Evans Weighting Systems Inc. Mike McGill has been promoted to vice-president and general manager, responsible for both international market development and management of the United States business. Mike Webster has joined the company as operations manager.

In a related move, CRC-Evans Weighting Systems and Saddle Tech Inc. of Athabasca, Alta., have signed a master distribution agreement whereby CRC-Evans will exclusively market the Saddle Bag Weight throughout the world. The Saddle Bag Weight is a sand or aggregate-filled geotextile fabric weight designed to set onto or strap onto pipelines and competes directly with conventional concrete weights.

Intergraph Process & Building Solutions

Houston, has appointed Kurt Ingenthron as executive vice-president of technology, and Gerhard Sallinger as executive vice-president of global sales and marketing. Ingenthron, who joined Intergraph in 1978, will be responsible for managing all division software development activities and will be located in the division's Huntsville, Ala., headquarters. Sallinger, a chemical engineer with more than 24 years of experience, joined Intergraph in 1986. He will be located in the division's Frankfurt, Germany, office and will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities conducted by a global marketing organization and four regional business units.

Process & Building Solutions division of Intergraph Corporation has been a provider of engineering software for more than 20 years. It offers data-centric, integrated life cycle engineering solutions and services for the 3D and 2D design and information management of process and power plants.
