Phillips Petroleum International Corp. Denmark said its Hejre-1 exploration well on License 5/98 in the northern Danish central graben found oil in sandstones of Late Jurassic age. Phillips said an "extensive evaluation program" rendered testing unnecessary and that it is now evaluating discovery size. The ENSCO 70 rig will be moved to a position in the eastern part of the central graben to drill exploration well Svane-1 on License 4/98.

Miller Exploration Co., Traverse City, Mich., prepared to offset the 1 Price discovery at its North Moselle project in Jones County. Basal Hosston perforations at 15,354-466 ft flowed 636 b/d of 45° gravity oil and 775 Mcfd of gas with 6,378 psi FTP through a 14/64 in. choke. Shut-in pressure was 7,340 psi.

The well cut pay objectives in Upper Cotton Valley sand, Basal Hosston, Upper Hosston, and Washita-Fredericksburg. Upper Cotton Valley, tested briefly at 16,022-040 ft, was to be evaluated more completely later.

Utah

The Cretaceous Ferron coalbed methane play in Carbon and Emery counties produced 75.5 bcf of gas from 486 wells in 2000 compared with 22 bcf from 167 wells in 1997, says the Utah Geological Survey.

Ferron CBM production totals 214.7 bcf from 1993 through 2000, and Drunkards Wash field has become the state's third largest gas field. Approved environmental impact statements will allow eventual drilling of 900 wells from just north of Ferron to Helper, Utah. Full development could take 4 to 5 more years.

UGS is to release 3D reservoir simulations and other project data.

Meanwhile, J.M. Huber Corp., Hous- ton, and Patina Oil & Gas Corp., Denver, have been producing gas from Cretaceous Blackhawk coals along the Book Cliffs in the southwestern Uinta basin.
