Celsius Energy Co., Salt Lake City, has completed an Upper Cretaceous Almond (Mesaverde) gas discovery on the Mulligan Draw federal exploratory unit in the Washakie basin.
The 4 Mulligan Draw Unit, in 33-16n-95w, Sweetwater County, 25 miles south-southwest of Wamsutter, flowed at the rate of 400 Mcfd of gas from the zone at about 12,800 ft. A frac job is scheduled for early this year.
The company is evaluating preliminary results of the discovery, which could significantly extend the size of the Mulligan Draw gas play, Celsius said.
It said the well is 4 1/2 miles northwest of its 1 Mulligan Draw Unit, in 24-15n-95w. That well has made about 430 MMcf of gas and 3,000 bbl of condensate from Almond at 13,853-877 ft, Petroleum Information reported.
Celsius said a successful well in the area typically will result in 5-10 bcf of reserves. A third well is being drilled in 25-15n-95w.
Celsius also said it revised its reserve estimate at Henry gas field in Uinta County, Wyo., by 6 bcf of gas equivalent during fourth quarter 1990 due to better than expected performance.
Celsius is drilling seven other company operated wells in Southwest Wyoming to take advantage of federal tax credits for tight sand gas projects, the highest level of winter drilling activity in Wyoming ever for Celsius.
