BRITISH GAS TO INVEST IN SMALL FIRMS

British Gas plc has set up BG Ventures, a U.K. venture capital fund. BG Ventures will invest in small, mainly British companies with potential for long term development where additional funds and associated support could make the difference between success and failure. A British Gas subsidiary will capitalize the fund at El 5 million ($8.77 million).
