A.P. Moller of Denmark has let contract to Far East Levingston Shipbuilding Ltd. (FELS), Singapore, for construction of two harsh environment jack up drilling rigs.

FELS called the contract the industry's largest single order for jack ups in recent years.

Scheduled for delivery by 1992, the rigs will be built on the CJ-62-S12O series design by Marine Structure Consultants of Netherlands. They are to be capable of drilling year-round in the North Sea under operations by Moller subsidiary Maersk Drilling.

Each will measure 78.2 m by 90.3 m by 10.8 m with three 165 m legs.

FELS earlier built the Monarch and Monitor harsh environment jack ups and is building a similar rig, Galaxy 1, for Santa Fe Drilling Co.
