Williams Field Services, Salt Lake City, has completed the first segment of its Manzanares pipeline project that serves San Juan basin coalbed methane producers.

The segment connects the Sims Mesa central delivery point into the system of Northwest Pipeline Corp. for delivery at the outlet of Northwest's Ignacio, Colo., gas processing plant.

Amoco Production Co. and Conoco Inc. plan to deliver 19 MMcfd and 3 MMcfd, respectively, of coal seam gas from the Sims Mesa area.

The gas will be delivered through Northwest's pipeline system until Manzanares is finished.

First phase completion comes 5 weeks ahead of schedule.

MANZANARES DETAILS

The $95 million Manzanares system is being built exclusively to transport coalbed methane.

Initial capacity is 390 MMcfd. A planned expansion in 1991 will boost capacity to 490 MMcfd.

The initial system, when complete in 1991, will consist of 110 miles of 6-22 in. pipeline, 45,000 hp of compression, and an amine treating plant to remove carbon dioxide produced with the gas.

The system will deliver coal seam gas to the Blanco, N.M., hub, which will connect with the Northwest, El Paso Natural Gas Co., and Transwestern Pipeline Co. systems.

Williams Field Services and Northwest are units of Williams Cos., Tulsa.
