AMOCO TESTS PAIR OF STRIKES IN NORTH SEA

Amoco (U.K.) Exploration Co. has tested two discoveries in the British North Sea. Amoco's 15/22-9z oil discovery, in 470 ft of water, lies within the unit area of Scott field Blocks 15/21 and 15/22 operated by Amerada Hess Ltd. It is about 90 miles east of Aberdeen, Scotland, in the Outer Moray Firth area. Drilled to 13,250 ft, the well flowed 8,600 b/d from lower Piper sandstone and 5,500 b/d from upper Piper sandstone. Interests are operator Amoco and Enterprise Oil plc 25.77% each,

Amoco (U.K.) Exploration Co. has tested two discoveries in the British North Sea.

Amoco's 15/22-9z oil discovery, in 470 ft of water, lies within the unit area of Scott field Blocks 15/21 and 15/22 operated by Amerada Hess Ltd. It is about 90 miles east of Aberdeen, Scotland, in the Outer Moray Firth area.

Drilled to 13,250 ft, the well flowed 8,600 b/d from lower Piper sandstone and 5,500 b/d from upper Piper sandstone.

Interests are operator Amoco and Enterprise Oil plc 25.77% each, Mobil North Sea Ltd. 20%, Amerada Hess 18.08%, and North Sea Inc. 10.38%.

Amoco's 42/28b-5 gas discovery is in 173 ft of water about 25 miles east of Flamborough Head. It was tested from two intervals at stabilized flows of 30 MMcfd and 37 MMcfd.

Operator Amoco and Gas Council (Exploration) Ltd. each hold 30.77% a interest, Amerada Hess 23.08%, and North Sea Inc. 15.38%.

The well is 6 miles east of the 42/28a-3 Wollaston gas discovery of 1989 and within 10 miles of the 47/3b Frobisher well disclosed in 1987.
