Ijmuiden, The Netherlands, has appointed Andy Waterstreet engineering and projects manager. Previously, he worked for Croon Elektrotechniek BV as senior project manager in the marine and offshore division. With more than 20 years' experience in the industry and a 10-year career in the Royal Navy, Waterstreet has held senior project management and research and development positions at Mampaey Offshore Industries BV in the Netherlands and Domnick Hunter in the UK.

Offshore Solutions, a joint venture of AMEC and Cofely Nederland NV, leads in the invention, development, manufacture, and safe operation of marine access systems.

CGGVeritas,

Paris, has signed a 5-year marine charter agreement with Bourbon, Paris, for six new support vessels to assist its seismic operations. The new vessels will be delivered starting at the end of 2012.

CGGVeritas is a leading international pure-play geophysical company delivering technologies, services, and—through Sercel—equipment to the global oil and gas industry.

Bourbon offers a broad range of offshore oil and gas surface and subsea marine services through an extensive range of vessels.

Fuel Streamers Group USA LLC,

Houston, has agreed to acquire Plant Performance Services LLC (P2S) from Fluor Corp. for an undisclosed sum. P2S will operate as an independent entity within Fuel Streamers' group of companies. P2S's operating management will be led by Mack Bozarth, as president.

P2S provides turnaround, small capital construction, fabrication, and specialty services to the refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, and power industries.

The Fuel Streamers group of companies comprises privately held investments in petroleum and energy companies focused on petroleum products, biofuels, ethanol, and electricity.

Schlumberger Business Consulting (SBC),

Paris, has appointed Adnan Shihab-Eldin and Claude Mandil to the board of the SBC Energy Institute. The institute is a nonprofit organization and center of excellence for scientific and technological research for issues pertaining to the energy industry in the 21st Century. It draws on the expertise of SBC consultants and Schlumberger technological know-how and is overseen by a scientific committee consisting of highly experienced individuals in the areas of natural and applied sciences, business, and petroleum engineering. Shihab-Eldin is a former acting secretary general and director of research at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. He currently is an advisor to and member of Kuwait National Nuclear Energy Committee and director general of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. Mandil served for 4 years from 2003 as executive director of the International Energy Agency. Shihab-Eldin and Mandil are joined on the institute's board by Kamel Bennaceur, Schlumberger chief economist, and Antoine Rostand, SBC's global managing director.

SBC is an energy sector management consultancy, offering a mix of industry expertise and consulting, advising oil, gas, and energy companies worldwide.

Knight Oil Tools,
Lee

Lafayette, La., has named Joe Lee director of the company's jar product line. Lee will oversee new jar manufacturing operations in addition to the maintenance and servicing of used equipment at the Knight Oil Tools jar facility in Broussard, La. His other responsibilities include business development, HSE, and quality systems for the jar product line. Previously, Lee served as vice-president, operations, at Foxxe Energy Services and in management positions at Halliburton, Expro Group, Altec Gas Lift, and Schlumberger. He has a BS in civil engineering from Mississippi State University.

Knight is the largest privately held rental and fishing tools business in the oil and gas industry.

Ras Laffan Port,

Qatar, logged the berthing of the Al-Ghuwairiya LNG tanker as the port's 5,000th LNG vessel in 15 years. The Qatargas chartered vessel is one of the new-generation Q-Max LNG tankers able to load a full LNG cargo of 260,000 cu m. The vessel is owned by the Qatar Gas Transport Co. Qatari LNG is produced by the two major Qatar Petroleum joint venture businesses, Qatargas and RasGas, both based in Ras Laffan Industrial City—which is managed and administered by Qatar Petroleum.

Qatargas, the world's largest LNG producer at 42 million tonnes/year, started shipping LNG in December 1996.

RasGas, which produces 35 million tonnes/year of LNG, started shipping LNG in June 1999.

Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors,

Calgary, has appointed Mark A. Scholz president effective Aug. 1, 2011. He will replace Don Herring, who is retiring this summer after serving CAODC for 30 years. Scholz has worked for the association 3 years, most recently as manager, technical services. He has a dual BA in economics and political science from the University of Calgary. Previously, Scholz worked for ATB Financial and was chief of staff for the leader of the Wildrose Alliance Party in Canada.

In addition, CAODC appointed Nancy E.A. Malone vice-president, operations, effective Aug. 1. She has worked for the association for 6½ years, most recently as manager, economic analysis. Malone has a BA in history and French from Berry College in Rome, Ga., and an MBA from the University of Calgary. Previously, she worked as a coordinator with the G8 Kananaskis Summit, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, and as assistant to the director of operations, prime minister's office.

The CAODC, formed in 1949, represents the contract drilling and service rig industry across Canada.

Parker Energy Products,

Stafford, Tex., has introduced its subsea metrology and dimensional control services to the Gulf of Mexico oil and gas market. The company has recently added technical staff in Houston to support the expansion. The first subsea metrology system Parker will utilize in this market is SICAMS, a single-camera metrology system used to obtain accurate subsea measurements (centerline distances, diameters, pitch, and roll) of existing structures.

The Energy Products division of Parker Hannifin provides marine hose, power cables, mooring lines, high-pressure hose, custom umbilicals, surveying, metrology, and project management service, for global energy recovery.

United Vision Logistics,

Lafayette, La., has named Stan Stricklen senior vice-president of operations, following the retirement of COO Rusty Guilbeau. Stricklen has 22 years of transportation and logistics industry experience in addition to his service in the US Army. Previously, he was vice-president of operations at EW Wylie, COO at Bennett Motor Express, vice-president of specialized services at Integra Logistics, and vice-president of automotive services at Landstar System Inc. He has a BA in public relations from the University of Alabama and an MA in strategic studies from the US Army War College.

Houston, has named Frans Everts leader of the Shell Group subsidiary, which markets and trades natural gas, power, and environmental products. He has been with Shell for more than 20 years and most recently served as the general manager for Shell Lubricants' global car care business line. Everts, who started his Shell career as a crude oil trader in Europe, has worked in various commercial roles and has extensive North American and international experience in retail and business-to-business sales and marketing. Everts has the Dutch equivalent of bachelor's and master's degrees in business from Groningen University. In addition, Mark Quartermain, former Shell Energy business lead, will now serve as vice-president of strategy for Shell's downstream portfolio and be based in London.

Shell Global Solutions International BV,

The Hague, and AB Sandvik Process Systems, Sandviken, Sweden, have entered into a cooperation agreement to provide total sulfur technology solutions to their respective clients, particularly in refinery-wide projects. Shell Global Solutions provides sulfur management solutions to the downstream industry, and Sandvik's Rotoform pastillation system is a solution for solidifying and handling sulfur complements. The alliance is designed to offer refiners more flexibility in the onsite management and handling of sulfur.

Sandvik Process Systems is a leader in steel belt technology, designing, manufacturing and installing steel belts and belt-based systems for the oil and gas and many other process industries. Houston, has named Robert Gilman president and COO of ABS Americas, replacing Thomas Gilmour, who will serve as vice-president, global marketing, until his retirement in late 2011. Previously, Gilman was vice-president, global operations. Assisting Gilman will be Derek Novak, named vice-president, operations; and Matt Tremblay, replacing Novak as vice-president, engineering, ABS Americas. The new president and COO of the ABS Pacific division will be Eric Kleess, relocating to Singapore from Houston, where he has been vice-president, operations, ABS Americas. Assisting Kleess as senior vice-president, operations, will be Stephen Auger. Taking over as president and COO of the ABS Greater China division will be Richard Pride, who has been vice-president, operations, in that division. Assisting Pride as vice president, operations, ABS Greater China, will be Paul Karam, currently vice-president, Northern Pacific region. At ABS Europe, John McDonald recently assumed the positions of president and COO. McDonald's team is headed by Karl Van Campenhout, senior vice-president, operations, and John Gallagher, vice-president, Northern Europe. Demetri Stroubakis was named senior vice-president, global operations, at ABS Nautical Systems, which will still be led by Karen Hughey, president and COO. Mark McGrath, currently president and COO, ABS Pacific, will transfer to ABS headquarters in Houston to serve as corporate training officer. Adam Moilanen, currently president of the Greater China Division, will transfer to Houston as vice-president and chief of staff. Robert Giuffra has been named senior vice-president, quality and service. Kirsi Tikka, currently vice-president, global technology and business development, has been named vice-president and chief engineer. Previously she was vice-president, engineering, for ABS Europe. She will continue to lead the ABS Environmental Solutions Group.

GE Oil & Gas Wellstream Brazil,

Rio de Janeiro, has been awarded a long-term flexible pipe and subsea logistics services contract, valued at more than $200 million, by Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras).

To perform the contract, GE will build a dedicated 55,000 sq m, $90 million Wellstream flexible pipe and subsea equipment logistics base in Niteroi, a commercial hub 14 km outside Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras will use the new facility to support its development of presalt oil and gas field projects in the Campos and Santos basins off Brazil. The new logistics base will be strategically positioned close to a number of key Petrobras components and services suppliers and adjacent to GE Wellstream's existing Niteroi plant that supplies Petrobras and other operators in Brazil with high-quality, flexible risers and flowline products for oil and gas transportation subsea. Start-up is slated for third quarter 2012.

Artificial Lift Co. Ltd. (ALC),

Houston and Greater Yarmouth, UK, has announced plans to expand its facilities. The company will build a new 5,500 sq ft facility in Greater Yarmouth to accommodate increased manufacturing, assembly, repair, and testing activities, along with supplying additional office space and support services. The new facility will be located next to existing world-class well test and prototype test facilities. As part of its investment, ALC plans to install new testing and assembly equipment that will further enhance the firm's capability to provide electrical submersible pump technology and services.

Founded in 2004, ALC is a leading artificial lift service company that develops and delivers innovative and cost-effective artificial lift systems to the oil and gas industry.
