New well, mud log printer

Here's the iTerra Elite II 8.5 in. color LED fourth generation well and mud logging printer.

It prints at speeds of as much as 6 in./sec. The unit allows for unattended, continuous printing with resolutions of 300 or 600 dots/in. The automatic top of form consistently starts on the correct fanfold sheet, and the automatic cutter eliminates labor.

Expanded line of wellbore cleanout tools

An expanded line of wellbore cleanout tools is available to the industry.

In addition to Tough Boy casing scrapers and brush tools, the firm also supplies: Big Boy riser waste retrievers for solids removal, Strong Boy magnet tools to remove ferrous debris from the wellbore, Big Strong Boy debris trappers that feature solids retrieval and ferrous debris trapping capabilities, and Swift Boy jet tool series that hydroblast BOP cavities, wellhead cavities, and marine risers to help assure solids removal of caked-on debris.

Others include: Clean Boy filter basket that's designed to run in conjunction with Swift Boy jet tools to remove solids broken loose during jetting operations, Flow Boy circulating tools to boost flow rates at the liner top for wellbore cleaning as well as enabling exchange of wellbore fluids and spotting chemical pills, and Slim Boy swivel subs to isolate reduced clearance IDs of tapered strings from potentially damaging torque (Slim Boy generally used above the Swift Boy circulating tool in casing liner applications).

Expanded volume calibration cylinders

New Model R calibration cylinders provide an additional 8 l. of calibration gas or 42% more gas content per cylinder than the current 19 l. New cylinder bottles are red in color instead of the current blue.

New cylinders will contain a fill level of 27 l. total with the exception of P/N 460345 (butane, carbon dioxide mix), which remains at 16 l./US Department of Transportation regulations for flammable gas cylinders.

Concentrated geobiocide registered with US EPA

GeoTru, a concentrated geobiocide, has been registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency.

The environmentally friendly biocide is designed to help control microorganisms in oil and gas production operations, including enhanced recovery systems.

It is formulated to be easy to handle and ship because of its favorable toxicity profile compared with other biocides used for the same purpose. It is not reactive with typical downhole chemistries and is equipment-compatible, the company says.

New console for accurate choke control

The newly released Low Pressure AutoChoke Console (LPAC) is a precision-built unit that provides accurate and economical control of the AutoChoke unit during managed pressure drilling (MPD), underbalanced drilling (UBD), and other low surface pressure operations.

LPAC allows the operator to directly set and maintain the desired back-pressure on the well using either the local hydraulic power unit (HPU) console or the remote human machine interface (HMI) panel near the driller. The LPAC unit enables seamless transition between AutoChoke units, while simultaneously controlling two units. The unit can maintain pressure for more than 2 hr after loss of rig air and as long as 1 hr after loss of rig power thanks to the hydraulic accumulator, air storage tank, and uninterruptible power supply.

The unit's sunlight-readable touch screen panels help ensure accurate readings in any weather condition and allow for precise pressure inputs to the AutoChoke units. Screens display additional operating parameters including casing and drill pipe pressures, pump rates, strokes, and diagnostics.

The remote HMI can be placed anywhere, allowing the choke operator to work in close proximity to the driller throughout the MPD or UBD section of the well. The Remote HMI comes standard with the LPAC unit. A built-in arbitration scheme allows the logical transfer of control between the remote HMI and the Local HPU. The LPAC unit is also equipped to be controlled by third party software.
