GE,

Fairfield, Conn., has announced plans to acquire Wellstream Holdings PLC, Newcastle, UK, for $1.3 billion. The deal is expected to close in first quarter 2011, subject to shareholder approval and customary closing conditions. The addition of Wellstream will broaden GE Oil & Gas's extensive subsea production systems equipment and service capabilities, particularly in the floating production, storage, and offloading sector. It also will enhance GE's ability to capitalize on growth in Brazil, Africa, and Asia.

Wellstream is a leading independent designer and manufacturer of high-quality flexible pipeline products, systems, and solutions for oil and gas transportation. It operates manufacturing facilities in Newcastle and Niteroi, Brazil. Its key products include dynamic flexible risers, static flowlines, jumpers, and fluid transfer lines for deepwater and ultradeepwater dynamic environments.

GE is a diversified infrastructure, finance, and media company. Its GE Energy group includes GE Oil & Gas as well as power and water and energy services divisions.

GE Oil & Gas,

Florence, Italy, has named Andrew Way vice-president of services. He will be responsible for leading continued growth of the business' equipment repair, maintenance, upgrade, and remote monitoring and diagnostics capabilities across all segments of the oil and gas industry. Way started his GE career in 1996 in the sourcing organization of GE Aircraft Engines. He held roles of increasing responsibility in aircraft engines and engine services before moving to equipment services in 2001, where he was promoted to CEO of GE Equipment Services UK. In October 2007, Way joined the GE Oil & Gas business as the global services operations leader. He was promoted to global supply chain and manufacturing leader in December 2008. Way holds a master's in engineering from the University of Wales College.

GE Oil & Gas is part of the GE Energy group.

John Wood Group PLC,

Aberdeen, has agreed to acquire PSN Ltd. for $955 million. PSN will merge with Wood Group's production facilities business to create a leading global brownfield production services provider, Wood Group PSN. PSN CEO Bob Keiller will become CEO of the combined production services business, and the deputy CEO will be Les Thomas, currently CEO of Wood Group Production Facilities. Upon completion of the deal, expected in second quarter 2011, Keiller will join the Wood Group board alongside Thomas.

Wood Group PSN will specialize in pre-operations support, commissioning, training, asset integrity, and decommissioning.

PSN is an international energy services company operating in 23 countries that provides brownfield services to customers operating in the oil and gas industry. PSN operated within the KBR division of Halliburton until 2006, when it was purchased by its current management, Bank of Scotland Integrated Finance, and certain other institutional investors.

Wood Group is an international energy services company operating in 50 countries. The group has three divisions-engineering and production facilities, well support, and gas turbine services-that provide engineering, production support, maintenance management and industrial gas turbine overhaul and repair services to the oil and gas and power generation industries worldwide.

CoorsTek Inc.,

Golden, Colo., has acquired Flowguard Ltd., Manchester, UK. Terms of the deal are not disclosed. CoorsTek will retain the Flowguard brand and undertake technical and material innovations to expand market share. CoorsTek will also expand European market coverage of its current petroleum-production-based line of pulsation dampeners and stabilizers with this transaction.

CoorsTek is the largest technical ceramics manufacturer in North America and has facilities in Europe and Asia. Among other products for a wide range of industries, CoorsTek supplies downhole sensors, choke valves, seals, and other components and assemblies made from specialty materials for the oil and gas industry.

Flowguard specializes in the design and construction of hydropneumatic pressure vessels, including pulsation dampeners, suction stabilizers, and surge absorbers for use in subsea oil and gas operations and other critical-duty applications.

Peak Well Services Pty. Ltd.,

Perth and Aberdeen, has appointed Nigel Avern Chief Executive. Avern joins Peak after 17 years with Expro, where he managed various divisions of the global business, notably as region director for Asia and president of South America. Subsequently, he was an executive officer responsible for product lines and managing director for the company's connectors and measurements business. Avern will initially be based between the company's two main offices, in the UK (Aberdeen) and Australia (Perth). He will also sit on the company's board.

Peak Well Services is a leading specialist in the design and manufacture of downhole products, including wireline fishing tools and flow control devices.

Digitalcore Pty. Ltd.,

Canberra, has appointed Exprobiz's Ross Davidson marketing and sales representative for the North Africa, Middle East, and India region.

Digitalcore is a leading provider of high-resolution, 3D image-based core analysis and petrophysical services to the oil and gas industry. Its technology derives from research and development conducted over the past 10 years at the Australian National University and the University of New South Wales. Digitalcore offers a comprehensive range of core, sidewall, and cuttings services incorporating imaging, petrophysical, and multiphase flow analyses.

Exprobiz is a specialist marketing and business development consultancy established in Ajman, UAE, in 2010. It represents a select group of companies throughout the North Africa, Middle East, and India region. In addition, Exprobiz organizes specialist conferences and workshops to accelerate the spread of knowledge about new upstream technologies to oil and gas exploration and production professionals.

Production Services Network (PSN),

Houston, has appointed two new vice-presidents to capitalize on its continued expansion in US shale operations. Michael Northcott has returned to PSN as vice-president, focusing on shale plays in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Brandon Stephens has been appointed vice-president, focusing on shale developments in Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, and Utah. Northcott brings 25 years' experience in the oil and gas industry. Previously he was general manager of operations for PSN during 2001-2008, when he led the start-up of the comp
any's business in the Rocky Mountain region. Before returning to PSN, he was a general manager for KBR in Houston. Northcott was also previously a regional manager for oil and gas exploration and production with EnerCrest, where he managed and directed the company's regional operations. Stephens joins PSN with extensive leadership experience in oil and gas operations. He was previously director of business development with Hettinger LLC, where he managed the company's new business ventures in shale gas. He was also a regional manager at EnerCrest. Stephens has a bachelor's in construction management from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Colorado State University.

PSN is a global provider of engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning project management services, primarily to the oil and gas sector.

IDS,

Kuala Lumpur, has appointed Shannon Cameron as a new sales executive. She will be based in the IDS Calgary office. Cameron will be responsible for expanding awareness and use of the IDS suite of products to the North American market. She has 6 years of experience providing software and technology solutions to the energy and finance sectors. Cameron has a commerce degree from the University of Calgary.

IDS provides web-delivered reporting and analysis services to the upstream oil and gas industry through its DataNet2 suite of tools.

Helmerich & Payne Inc.,

Tulsa has named John Lindsay executive vice-president and COO. He joined H&P in 1987 as a drilling engineer. He has since served in various positions, including operations manager for the company's Midcontinent region and vice-president, US land operations, for Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. (HPIDC). In 2006, Lindsay was appointed executive vice-president, US and international operations, for HPIDC. He has a BS in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa.

H&P is primarily a contract drilling company, with 225 land rigs in the US, 28 international land rigs, and 9 offshore platform rigs.

Denver, has merged with Eide Bailly LLP, Phoenix. RT Higgins founder and CPA Rick Higgins has been involved in the oil and gas industry for about 30 years, assisting clients with exploration, production, acquisitions, and royalty interests of oil and gas properties. Higgins's clients' US interests are in Colorado, Alaska, California, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, and North Dakota; and internationally in Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Australia, and the Netherlands. Paris, has appointed Ron D. Smaniotto US sales manager within its Hampson-Russell software and services division. He will be based in Houston and will oversee the US sales effort for Hampson-Russell software sales and advanced reservoir consulting services. Previously, Smaniotto was a multiclient sales executive in the seismic and reservoir software and service industry.

Hampson-Russell is part of the CGGVeritas processing, imaging, and reservoir division.
