Linear position sensor now comes in flexible pipe to 20 m

The expanded R-Series linear-position sensors product line has doubled the available length for the flexible pipe version.

The absolute, noncontact Temposonics Model RF position sensor now facilitates installation in tight spaces with lengthy measuring ranges as long as 20 m. The sensors can operate in a curved position to detect curvilinear measurements at a minimum radius of 200 mm.

The Model RF sensor can easily be installed or dismounted, even when the space around the machine is limited, such as when the installation is within an enclosed space, the firm points out.

Even at long measuring distances, the high-performance electronics inside the sensor head provide accurate sensing results, the firm says.

New additives line removes hydrogen sulfide from asphalt

A new chemical additives line is specially designed to remove hydrogen sulfide from asphalt or bitumen products.

Baker Petrolite SULFIX 9610 and SULFIX 9614 asphalt additives help reduce hazardous levels of hydrogen sulfide. This technology for the treatment of asphalt helps reduce exposure to hydrogen sulfide throughout the asphalt supply chain, from the refinery to the paving process.

Openhole system installed successfully in Oman

The first successful commercial installation of the 8 by 95⁄8 in. MonoSET openhole clad system has been accomplished for Petroleum Development Oman, Muscat, Oman, to stabilize a shale section in a deviated well in Fahud field in central Oman.

The system helped enable more efficient drilling in the lower section of the well, the company notes.

The system expands proprietary solid steel tubulars using a shoeless tool design for a process that is hydromechanically expanded. It isolates a trouble formation in the well without anchoring back into existing casing and provides an 81⁄2 in. pass-through below 95⁄8 in. casing with lengths from a single joint to more than 1,000 ft.
