Bourbon,

Paris, has announced a $2 billion program of newbuilds through 2015, expanding its offshore oil and gas services/supply fleet to 600 in the next 5 years. The additions entail 80 supply vessels and 64 crewboats for both deepwater and shallow-water logistics services. The latest expansion of the fleet by 144 vessels follows a 2012 timeframe program involving 66 supply vessels and 33 crewboats currently under construction. As of yearend 2009, Bourbon's oil and gas support fleet totaled 357—134 supply vessels and 223 crewboats. The company also plans to hire 5,000 personnel in conjunction with the fleet expansions.

Bourbon offers a broad range of offshore oil and gas marine services.

Baker Hughes,

Houston, has opened its Eco-Centre waste management facility in Peterhead, Scotland, providing the North Sea oil and gas industry with environmentally compliant waste processing services from the rig site to final disposal. North Sea operators now have a full-service facility to treat all drilling liquid and solids waste. In addition, the facility includes remote monitoring capabilities, allowing companies online access to track their waste streams and ensure environmental reporting compliance. The 30,000 sq ft facility can process >33,000 tons/year of drill cuttings and 3.7 million gal/year of liquid waste. The Eco-Centre also includes Baker Hughes's Fluids Environmental Services Global Research & Development Center, the primary R&D hub for emerging technologies designed to reduce the oil and gas industry's environmental impact.

Baker Hughes provides reservoir consulting, drilling, pressure pumping, formation evaluation, completion and production products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry.

CGGVeritas,

Paris, has signed a technology cooperation agreement with Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) for the collaborative development and implementation of new geophysical technologies. The accord sets the framework for collaborative research projects between Petrobras and CGGVeritas over a 3-year span in specific areas such as 4D seismic processing, imaging, and reservoir geophysics. These research projects will be conducted at a recently opened CGGVeritas Technology Center in Rio de Janeiro. The Rio Technology Center is designed to offer oil and gas operators in Brazil direct access to geophysical technology developed or customized by a dedicated R&D team focused on solving local geophysical challenges. The center is also developing partnerships in advanced geophysical studies with the State University of Campinas, the Federal University of Para, and the State University of North Fluminense.
