New wellsite computer upload system

The newly released web based "reconnect uploader" is designed to help improve data flow to the operating company and its partner companies from the wellsite during the drilling process.

The web based—secure encrypted—technology allows all data during the drilling process (daily drilling reports, mud logs, logging-while-drilling, wire line, and testing data) to be uploaded by contractors or company personnel into a database. Users can download, sort, and search for data quickly and efficiently, the firm notes.

Each user has a log in. Users simply access the internet and enter their user name and password to view, upload, and edit data. Users can select to use the reconnect uploader when uploading large files at the wellsite. If for example a user is uploading ten 5-megabyte photo files (50 megabytes total) and the internet connection is dropped after 10 min, the user simply logs back on and clicks on the reconnect upload button once the internet connection is reestablished. The program will reconnect to the server, and the user will be asked to reenter user name and password. Once this is done, the upload automatically resumes from the point of the internet disconnection, requiring only a few more minutes to complete the upoad.

Liquid level switch added to wireless portfolio

A new WirelessHART point level switch promises to enable level detection in locations previously inaccessible or too costly for wired devices.

The Rosemount 2160 vibrating fork liquid level switch is suited for almost all liquid applications. It is virtually unaffected by flow, bubbles, turbulence, foam, vibration, solids content, coating, liquid properties, and product variations. It is designed for use in extreme temperatures and performs in harsh process conditionss. Typical applications include overfill protection, high and low level alarms, pump control (limit detection), and pump protection or empty pipe detection.

The 2160 is a component of PlantWeb digital architecture, wirelessly communicating switch output state, diagnostics, and PlantWeb alerts. The wireless switches operate in the WirelessHART self-organizing mesh network that enables the switches to automatically find the best communication path, with greater than 99% data reliability, to the Smart Wireless Gateway.

The fast drip' fork design of the Rosemount 2160 and other products in the 2100 series means that any remaining liquid is drawn away from the fork tips, enabling quicker and more reliable detection, especially in high density liquids. Two models are available, covering the temperature range –94° to +500° F.
