New gas pipeline inspection tool

The new multitechnology tool LineExplorer 3TM promises cost-efficient high resolution ultrasonic testing of gas pipelines without the need of a liquid batch.

The tool incorporates electromagnetic acoustic transducer, magnetic flux leakage, and eddy current technology

The company says its inspection technology gives pipeline operators dependable information for maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) assessments as well as advanced risk estimation for flaws. In comparison with liquid lines, gas pipelines are usually exposed to higher operating pressures and therefore potentially higher threat in case of a material defect, the firm notes. High quality metal loss inspection data help in providing reliable calculation of MAOP, the company adds.
