New version of engineering design software

A new version of SmartPlant 3D enterprise engineering design software offers new capabilities for multiple 3D model referencing, enhanced model data reuse, and laser scanning integration capabilities to further increase engineering design quality, productivity, and accelerate project schedules.

Enhancements include:

• Reference 3D capabilities. Using SmartPlant Review technology, SmartPlant 3D now can reference external data from many sources for visualization, clash detection, and routed systems connections. Supported formats include PDS, PDMS, SAT, DGN, DGN V8, DWG, and VUE. This capability is helpful when undertaking repeated 3D designs or for joint venture projects where multiple companies may be using different design products. Referenced 3D models can also be included in drawing and report generation.

• Enhanced model data reuse. SmartPlant 3D can copy 3D data within a model or to another model while maintaining relationships within the design. Entire units of a plant can be replicated with all associated intelligence.

• Laser scanning integration. Integration with laser point cloud data helps ensure accurate measurements and placement of equipment while checking for interferences against the point cloud data. Clashes are automatically highlighted, allowing for easy edits and removal and saving time on designs and rework. Smart3D supports Leica, Z&F, Trimble, QuantaPoint, and CSA laser data formats.

New high flow rate Coriolis meter

Here's the new Micro Motion ELITE Coriolis meter.

It covers 10-12 in. (DN 250-300) line sizes and can handle flow rates over 3,200 tons/hr. The new meter adds to the existing 1⁄10-8 in. (DN2-DN200) ELITE line size range.

This large size meter is suited for pipelines, ship-rail loading and unloading, crude oil custody transfer, mud logging, marine, LNG, gas metering, and refinery blending. Meters have no moving parts to break or wear, deliver ±0.10% mass and volume flow liquid accuracy, ±0.0005 g/cc density accuracy, and ±0.35% gas flow accuracy.

The firm says its meters deliver measurement performance for applications ranging from 6 in. (DN150) to 12 in. (DN300) process connections.
