New underreamer

Here's the new Commander underreamer for wellbore enlargement.

The new tool is designed for robust applications and weak bottomhole formations. It provides fully opened cutters to their intended diameter throughout the entire hole section. The firm says the cutters are manufactured with proved PDC material, and the Commander's patent pending axial cam helps assure that the cutters are rigidly supported at the desired cutting diameter. The capped housing design and cutter spacing help reduce vibration to the work string and provide increased torque resistance and stability. The tool is readily activated with a ball drop.

Environmental instrumentation software fully revised

WolfSense 2010 is a fully revised version of this firm's environmental instrumentation operating software.

In conjunction with company sensors, the new application software transforms Windows XP/VISTA/7 notebook PCs and Windows Mobile Pocket PCs into air quality measurement instruments.

The improved user interface helps make operation of this instrumentation easy to us. New features include:

• Real-time display of trend graphs, during data logging.

• Unlimited, appended audio notes (that may later be translated into text for field documentation).

• Auto-attachment, to data files, of video taken in situ (with the mobile PC camera).

• On-board video "help" files (for example; showing how to perform a user calibration).

• Color drawing notes.

• Auto-start logging that initiates trend logs at a preassigned time and date.

• A choice of "work flows" that hand-hold operators through specific IAQ survey strategies, allowing less experienced operators to take advantage of more advanced functions.

WolfSense 2010 also operates on the firm's new embedded computer instruments, such as the WolfPack modular area monitor. Available parameters include volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, particulates, differential pressure, air velocity, ozone, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, CO, NO, NO2, SO2, % relative humidity, and temperature.

Once measurements have been trend-logged over time or spot-logged, users may review, analyze, and report on the data and field-collected notes with the included WolfSense PC software. Optional advanced report generator software automates the entire reporting process.
