New web site details oil field gear drives

Nuttall Gear has launched a new web site that provides information on its line of enclosed helical gear drives including Moduline concentric shaft reducers, gearmotors, TDS parallel, right angle, and hollow shaft reducers, SU/SD high speed units, and an array of vertical units.

Nuttall Gear provides gear drives for offshore operations as well as chemical processing plants.

New gateway provides oil field security

The recently released SEL-3620 ethernet security gateway provides security to oil and gas facilities.

It protects systems from malicious traffic with virtual private networks (VPNs) and a configurable ingress and egress stateful firewall. It provides as many as 60,000 security event reports and supports Syslog with precise time tagging of events through IRIG. The storage for SEL-3620 offers industry-vetted security and interoperable standards, including IPsec (RFC 4301, 4302, and 4303), X.509 certificates, OCSP certificate revocation, IRIG-B time synchronization, HTTPS web interface, Cisco:OPSAID interoperability, and Syslog.

Tailored specifically to secure smart grid communications, the gateway operates with existing IT and control systems, using an intuitive, menu-driven web interface to create an internet protocol security VPN. It secures routable protocols that cross electronic security perimeters, and provides up to 16 VPN connections on three ethernet ports.

New package for offshore LNG operations

The new LM6000 enhanced package is designed for offshore LNG applications and onshore liquefaction, natural gas, and pipeline compression operations.

The new package can produce more than 40 Mw. It offers enhanced reliability and availability, reduced footprint and weight, ease of maintenance, and reduced installation and commissioning times—all helpful for offshore applications such as floating LNG, the firm points out.

The LM6000 is designed for reliable operation in remote locations and under extreme conditions, while reducing operating costs and minimizing environmental impact, the company says.

The integrated package features the LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbine coupled with a centrifugal compressor for mechanical drive duty. Operating at more than 42% efficiency, the LM6000 offers a dry low emissions combustor that limits nitrous oxide emissions to 15 ppm at 15% O2.
