New cable withstands downhole temperature to 300° C.

This new high performance SureSight fiber optic distributed temperature cable withstands extreme heat and operates in high temperature wellbore monitoring.

Cables withstand temperatures as high as 300º C., which are often experienced in steam assisted gravity drainage and cyclic steam injection wells in steamflood reservoirs. Cables have been designed and optimized with double ended measurement capabilities.

The company says that cable construction provides a number of benefits over the use of standard fiber optic technology. While multiple layers provide a pressure barrier to prevent damaging hydrogen ingress, the latest generation of optical fibers helps minimize the effects of hydrogen darkening with chemical composition and coatings.

The cable design means the integrity of the distributed temperature sensing system can be monitored during installation and information sourced on stimulant-frac fluid placement.

New high-speed refinery gas analyzers

Two new high-speed refinery gas analyzers incorporate special column sets to accommodate the use of hydrogen carrier gas to optimize throughput.

New Models 1117 and 1317 analyzers are based on the Clarus 600 gas chromatograph.

The Model 1117 is a three-channel system providing guaranteed analysis of helium, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, CO2, CO, H2S, C1 through C5 hydrocarbons including olefins and C5=, C6+ composite in less than 7.5 min using two thermal conductivity detectors (TCD/TCD) and a flame ionization detector (FID).

The Model 1317, also a three-channel system, provides guaranteed gas sample analysis of helium, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, CO2, CO, H2S, C1 through C5 hydrocarbons including olefins and C5=, C6+ composite in less than 7.5 min using two TCDs and an FID as well as the additional capability of sampling pressurized liquids through the use of a liquid sampling valve.
