Houston, has named Joseph Waiter vice-president, general counsel, and secretary, and Kevin Knight vice-president and chief financial officer. Waiter brings more than 25 years of legal experience with private-equity and publicly held companies. He has been involved in commercial transactions, business alliances, and mergers and acquisitions on a global basis throughout his career. He also has significant experience in managing intellectual property matters and litigation. Waiter earned his bachelor’s degree from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. and his law degree from George Mason University School of Law in Virginia. Knight’s career spans more than 20 years of financial and accounting experience in many industries, including oil and gas, food, and construction businesses. A British citizen with permanent US residency privileges, he is a graduate of Durham University and was qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. Knight is an international affiliate member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Chart Industries Inc.,

Cleveland, has appointed James H. Hoppel Jr. to the newly created position of vice-president, corporate development. Previously, Hoppel was chief accounting officer and controller. He will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential acquisitions as well as developing and implementing integration strategies. Hoppel joined Chart in 2004 as corporate controller and became its chief accounting officer in 2006, in connection with the company’s initial public offering. He has previous mergers and acquisitions experience with W.W. Holdings LLC, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and Century Business Services Inc. Kenneth J. Webster has taken over as chief accounting officer and controller at Chart. Previously, he was director, internal audit. In his new role, Webster will be responsible for all accounting, internal and external reporting, as well as forecasting and analysis. In his previous role, he was closely involved in Chart’s 2007 successful implementation of the required Sarbanes-Oxley 404 regulations. Prior to joining Chart in 2006, Webster was assistant controller at Mittal Steel USA Inc. and predecessor steel companies. He began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP in 1985 and is a Certified Public Accountant.
