Douglas, formerly with Western Geco, has recently been leading development of Seamap's passive acoustic monitoring system, which allows detection of marine mammals for both scientific research and mitigation in the oil and gas industry.

Seamap Inc. designs, manufactures, and supports seismic exploration and survey equipment from its offices in Singapore, Houston, and the UK.

Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Co.

Tulsa, is celebrating its 100th year in business, and is pleased to be recognized as the oldest pipeline construction company in the United States. Currently owned by the fourth generation of the founding family, the company laid some of the first oil pipelines in Indian Territory, under contract from oil industry pioneers Harry Sinclair, Josh Cosden, and others. Sheehan pioneered such techniques as acetylene welding, participated in the development of major cross-country gas transmission lines, and, during the World War II era, constructed a significant portion of the historic war emergency pipeline.

To date, the company has completed more than 24,000 miles of pipe in 46 states and Canada. In addition to installing mainlines up to 48 inches in diameter, Sheehan's diverse projects include gathering systems, storage fields, hydrostatic testing, relocation or replacement of existing lines, cleaning and recoating of existing lines, and refinery maintenance and construction.

Octane Energy Services Ltd.

Calgary, has appointed Terry Doyle as president and chief operating officer. Doyle has over 33 years of senior managerial and operational experience in the upstream petroleum industry. He earned an engineering degree from the Royal Canadian Military College, and served three years as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

In a related announcement, Octane has restructured its electrical and instrumentation division by having Douglas Corcoran, president of Pronghorn Controls Ltd., report directly to the president and COO of Octane. As a result, the position of vice-president of electrical & instrumentation, held by Peter Kalutich, will be eliminated.

Octane Energy Services Ltd. provides services in oil field construction, facilities construction, small diameter pipeline construction, and electrical and instrumentation services throughout western Canada.

Wood Group Engineering & Production Facilities

Aberdeen, has appointed John Woods as production services director of Wood Group Engineering (North Sea), a newly created position. Woods previously had been with Amerada Hess, and most recently worked for Helix RDS, managing integrated asset modeling.

Weatherford International Ltd.

Houston, has announced that Joseph Gocke, formerly assistant treasurer for Aquila Inc., has joined the company as treasurer.

Gocke holds a BS degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, and an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.

Weatherford is one of the largest global providers of mechanical solutions, technology, and services for the drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry. The company operates in over 100 countries, and employs approximately 16,000 people.

Shell Global Solutions International BV and Gasunie Research

The Netherlands, have announced an agreement whereby the two companies will jointly provide consultancy services to gas companies.

Shell Global Solutions is an integrated consultancy and technical services company, serving the oil and gas process industries.

Gasunie Research, part of Gastransport Services, operates in the gas midstream industry covering gas transmission, pipeline integrity, and combustion technology.

Initial term of the cooperative effort is two years.

Swagelok Co.

Solon, Ohio, has elected Arthur F. Anton as president and chief executive officer, effective following a transition period. He currently serves as president and chief operating officer of the firm. Current chairman and CEO, William R. Cosgrove, will continue as chairman following Anton's promotion.

Swagelok Co. is a major developer and manufacturer of fluid system component technology for the research, instrumentation, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, power, petrochemical, and semiconductor industries.

Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS)

Houston, has announced the acquisition of Trondheim, Norway-based VoxelVision, developer of a powerful visualization engine and seismic functionality tool specifically designed to manage, visualize, and interpret massive 3D volumes in a PC environment.

Schlumberger Information Solutions is an operating unit of Schlumberger Oilfield Services. SIS is a leading supplier of integrated business solutions comprising information management, information technology, a complete range of expert services, and GeoQuest software.
