Personnel Moves and Promotions: ConocoPhillips names additional members to senior management team

Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. have named additional members to the new ConocoPhillips senior management team formed earlier this year (OGJ, Mar. 4, 2002, p. 34).

Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. have named additional members to the new ConocoPhillips senior management team formed earlier this year (OGJ, Mar. 4, 2002, p. 34). The team will coalesce with the finalization of the merger, which is expected to be completed in the second half.

Reporting directly to Rob McKee, who will become executive vice-president, exploration and production, is the upstream team, comprising:

W.B. Berry, Phillips senior vice-president, E&P Eurasia-Middle East, will become president, Asia Pacific.

Dodd W. DeCamp, Phillips senior vice-president, worldwide exploration, will become vice-president, exploration.

James R. Knudsen, Conoco vice-president, E&P technology, will become vice-president, upstream technology.

James D. McColgin, Conoco’s president, E&P for Africa, Asia Pacific, and Middle East, will become president, US Lower 48 and Latin America. Ryan M. Lance, Phillips general manager, Lower 48 and Canada, will report to McColgin as vice-president, Lower 48.

Henry I. McGee, Phillips general manager, Europe-Africa, worldwide production and operations, will become president, Middle East and Africa.

Kevin O. Meyers, Phillips executive vice-president, Alaska production and operations, will become president, Alaska.

Henry W. Sykes, president of Conoco Canada, will become ConocoPhillips president, Canada.

Steven M. Theede, Conoco president, E&P Europe, will become president, Europe, Russia, and Caspian.

Sigmund L. Cornelius, Conoco vice-president and treasurer, will become vice-president, upstream business development.

Downstream, finance

The ConocoPhillips downstream team will report directly to Jim Nokes, Conoco executive vice-president, refining, marketing, supply, and transportation, who will become executive vice-president, refining, marketing, supply, and transportation for the new company.

T.J. Nimbley, Phillips senior vice-president, refining, will become ConocoPhillips senior vice-president, refining.

Richard W. Severance, Conoco president, downstream North America, will become senior vice-president, strategy, optimization, and business development.

Steve R. Barham, vice-president, transportation for Phillips’s refining, marketing, and transportation division, will become vice-president, transportation.

Gregory J. Goff, current chairman and managing director of Conoco Ltd., will become president, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Mark R. Harper, Phillips vice-president, branded wholesale marketing, will become vice-president, wholesale marketing.

David B. Holthe, Phillips vice-president, retail marketing, will become ConocoPhillips vice-president, retail marketing.

Carin S. Knickel, Conoco vice-president, carbon businesses, will become vice-president, specialty businesses.

George W. Paczkowski, Conoco vice-president, downstream technology, will become vice-president, downstream technology.

On the finance team, reporting directly to John A. Carrig, executive vice-president, finance, and chief financial officer of the new company, will be:

R.C. Berney, Phillips vice-president and controller, will become ConocoPhillips vice-president and controller.

J.W. Sheets, Phillips vice-president and treasurer, will become vice-president and treasurer of the new firm.

Other moves

John B. Thomas has been named geoscience director of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He assumes the position held on an interim basis by John Shelton.

Empire Petroleum Corp.–with management now in Tulsa, following its acquisition by Americomm Resources Corp. (OGJ Online, June 1, 2001)–has appointed Albert E. Whitehead chairman and CEO and Thomas R. Bradley, president, of the new organization.

Thomas M. Matthews, former CEO of Avista Corp. and former president of Dynegy, Houston, has been elected chairman of the newly restructured board of directors of EOTT Energy Corp. He succeeds Stan Horton.

Thomas E. Skains has been elected president and chief operating officer of Piedmont Natural Gas Co. He will also serve on the board of directors.

Austin E. Lyons Jr. has assumed the position of president of Nippon Oil Exploration USA, Houston, succeeding Robert J. Ardell, who retired Mar. 31. Lyons formerly served as vice-president, engineering.

Calpine Corp., San Jose, Calif., has promoted senior vice-president Bill Berilgen to president of Calpine Natural Gas Co. He has managed the company’s natural gas subsidiary since Calpine acquired Houston-based Sheridan Energy in 1999. He will manage the company’s North American oil and gas assets and oversee its natural gas-fired power acquisition and development program.

Ed Presley has been appointed CEO and chairman of Ramoil Management Ltd., Las Vegas, succeeding Gary Walters.

Presley, who has 25 years’ experience in the energy industry, contractually acquired all of Walters’ controlling company shares. These are first steps in a company management reorganization and change of focus, emphasizing oil and coalbed methane.
