NEW ROLLER CONE BIT SERIES

New DuraTech Series roller cone bits promises to deliver ultimate rates of penetration with reformulated hard metal protection that provides life-enhancing durability in the most demanding environments.

The steel-tooth bits, available in sizes of 33⁄4-133⁄4 in., are built to withstand the added stress operators apply to bits when additional weight and greater revolutions per minute are necessary.

The series is designed to provide:
• Added durability in abrasive environments.
• Increased penetration rate.
• Directional responsiveness.
• A solution for sticky shale drilling.

NEW PROCESS AIDS LONG TERM SHALE FORMATION OUTPUT

Diversion technologies and pumping capabilities have been combined to create a process that helps operators achieve better long-term production from shale formations.

Called AccessFrac service, the new process optimizes fracturing treatments by helping assure that each perforation cluster in each interval receives the designed amount of proppant.

The process can help optimize plug and perf and sliding sleeve treatments by achieving enhanced proppant distribution. Assuring that each perforation cluster is treated enables treating longer intervals and having fewer plugs to drill out, reducing overall completion time. In addition, AccessFrac service can be handy for refrac programs due to its ability to manage existing perforations, the firm notes.

The process includes one or more of the company's diverting technologies-BioVert near wellbore and BioVert complex fracture biodegradable diverting agents. In addition, it can include the SandWedge aqueous-based conductivity enhancement system. The process is implemented using a specially designed pumping schedule to dilate and prop the complex fracture network.

At one report as January 2012 neared, the AccessFrac process had been successfully used more than 50 times in the Barnett shale in a variety of fracturing applications, the developer says.
