Quicksilver Canada gets LNG export approval

Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc. has received approval from the National Energy Board of Canada to export 20 million tonnes/year of LNG from a possible liquefaction plant near Campbell River, BC.

Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc. has received approval from the National Energy Board of Canada to export 20 million tonnes/year of LNG from a possible liquefaction plant near Campbell River, BC.

The company, which produces natural gas in the Horn River basin of British Columbia, is studying feasibility of building a plant at on the site of a pulp and paper processing complex closed in 2009. The LNG facility, called Discovery LNG, would have four, 5 million-tpy trains.

The export approval is for 25 years. In its application, Quicksilver said exports could begin as early as 2021 and reach capacity rates as early as 2024.
