The US House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issued a subpoena to US Sec. of State John F. Kerry for reports, recommendations, letters, and comments that the State Department received from federal agencies regarding the Keystone XL pipeline’s cross-border permit application.

The US House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issued a subpoena to US Sec. of State John F. Kerry for reports, recommendations, letters, and comments that the State Department received from federal agencies regarding the Keystone XL pipeline’s cross-border permit application.

The July 8 subpoena followed letters to DOS on Feb. 24 and June 15 for the letters from advising federal agencies, Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said on July 9.

“[DOS] has been uncooperative in the committee’s efforts to conduct oversight of the Keystone XL permitting process, and has shown an unwillingness to recognize the committee’s legitimate interest in obtaining information,” Chaffetz said. “In light of this, a subpoena is necessary and appropriate.”
