Work by an industry forum called SURF IM Network, which studies oil and gas subsea integrity management, has been extended by 3 years.

The new phase is led by Wood Group Kenny with support from the not-for-profit Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF), Aberdeen, a group of operators and service firms providing collaborative funding for research and development projects addressing technology challenges.

In the first phase, launched last year, “progress was made in understanding the issue of control system module reliability,” and results of a participant survey were delivered to subsea suppliers “to highlight integrity challenges and find ways to enhance reliability in the future,” ITF said.

The second phase, supported by a group of 14 operators, will run on an annual subscription basis and have an expected project value of about £300,000.
