MARKET WATCH: Oil, gas prices continue downward slide

The New York Mercantile Exchange crude oil contract for April delivery dropped 96¢ on Mar. 16 to $43.88/bbl. The May contract lost 93¢ to settle at $46.13/bbl.

The New York Mercantile Exchange crude oil contract for April delivery dropped 96¢ on Mar. 16 to $43.88/bbl. The May contract lost 93¢ to settle at $46.13/bbl.

The natural gas contract for April lost 1.1¢ to a rounded $2.72/MMbtu. The Henry Hub, La., gas price was $2.66/MMbtu, down 3¢.

Heating oil for April declined 1.44¢ to a rounded $1.70/gal. Reformulated gasoline stock for oxygenate blending for April delivery declined 3.37¢ to a rounded $1.73/gal.

The April ICE contract for Brent crude oil fell $1.23, settling at $53.44/bbl. The May contract fell $1.07 to $53.94/bbl. The ICE gas oil contract for April dropped $14 to $509.75/tonne.

The average price for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ basket of 12 benchmark crudes on Mar. 13 was $49.46/bbl, falling $2.20.
