The Methane Rita Andrew LNG carrier has arrived in Gladstone, Qld., and is preparing to load the first cargo of LNG from BG Group’s coal seam gas-LNG plant on Curtis Island in the next few days.

The ship will stay outside Gladstone harbor to complete regulatory procedures and wait until BG Group is ready to begin loading.

The $25 billion BG project is the first of three CSG-LNG developments to come on stream in Queensland and Australia’s first commercial production of CSG-fed LNG.

The other two—Australia Pacific LNG and Gladstone LNG—will begin exports in 2015.
