BLM starts process to consider new Nevada lease nominations

The US Bureau of Land Management’s Battle Mountain, Nev., field office is seeking public comment on 197 parcels of public land, totaling 415,921 acres, which have been nominated for potential oil and gas leasing. It will accept comments on scoping documents through Dec. 24.

The US Bureau of Land Management’s Battle Mountain, Nev., field office is seeking public comments on 197 parcels of public land, totaling 415,921 acres, which have been nominated for potential oil and gas leasing. It will accept comments on scoping documents through Dec. 24.

It is analyzing the parcels to identify potential impacts for an environmental assessment it is preparing, the field office said in its Dec. 9 announcement. Written comments which it receives will be used to identify possible issues, it indicated.

BLM expects to make the EA available for public review and comment in February 2015. A competitive oil and gas lease sale is scheduled for June.
