Eni, Sonangol to study nonassociated gas

Eni SPA and state-owned Sonangol have entered a strategic agreement to assess potential of nonassociated gas in the Lower Congo basin offshore Angola.

Eni SPA and state-owned Sonangol have entered a strategic agreement to assess potential of nonassociated gas in the Lower Congo basin offshore Angola.

A joint team established by the agreement will analyze international and domestic options for economically using the gas.

The companies committed to develop midstream and downstream projects related to the effort.

Eni, active in Angola since 1980, has equity production of 80,000 boe/d in the country.

It operates deepwater Block 15/06, on which it recently reported its 10th commercial oil discovery on the Ochigufu prospect (OGJ Online, Sept. 17, 2014).
