Beach Energy Ltd., Adelaide, has continued its successful run in the western flank region of the Cooper-Eromanga basins in South Australia.

Beach Energy Ltd., Adelaide, has continued its successful run in the western flank region of the Cooper-Eromanga basins in South Australia.

The company reports another good producer in its Bauer oil field with the casing and suspending of the Bauer-19 deviated well after it intersected 8.7 m of net oil pay in the Namur sandstone reservoir, plus a 4-m gross interval of oil-bearing reservoir in the McKinlay member.

The well is the third in the current campaign and has exceeded predrill expectations (OGJ Online, Aug. 14, 2014). Beach and joint venture partner Drillsearch Energy Ltd. believe the well could provide another increase in the ultimate recoverable reserves in the field.

The field lies in permit PEL 91 where additions to infrastructure have increased throughput capacity from 50,000 b/d to 75,000 b/d. Beach plans further exploration and appraisal wells in 2015.

Elsewhere on the western flank, Beach has successfully tested its Stunsail-1 wildcat with a flow of 6,768 b/d from the top of the Namur-McKinlay sands and 1,152 b/d from the mid-Namur formation (OGJ Online, June 3, 2014).
