SOCO EPC will test a 20-m interval of tight sandstone in which it has encountered oil in an exploratory well on the Marine XI Block offshore Congo (Brazzaville).

SOCO EPC will test a 20-m interval of tight sandstone in which it has encountered oil in an exploratory well on the Marine XI Block offshore Congo (Brazzaville).

The well, Lidongo X Marine 101, drilled to 2,665 m TD in 45 m of water, indicated oil with drilling shows and early log interpretation in gross interval of about 50 m in a clastic sequence in the Djeno sand formation

Analysis of the logs over the hydrocarbon zone indicates petrophysical parameters in line with those published for the Litchendjili field on the adjacent Marine XII Block operated by Eni SPA.

A 20-m section has been selected for testing due to the tight nature of the reservoir sands. The zone will be tested after a 7-in. liner is set and cemented. SOCO says testing, including utilizing a stimulation frac, is expected to last 3 weeks.

SOCO EPC holds 40.39% interest in the Marine XI block, with partners WNR 23%, SNPC 15%, AOGC 13.11%, and PetroVietnam 8.5%.
