Mubadala Petroleum, Abu Dhabi, has appointed Mussabeh Al Kaabi, currently chief growth officer, as chief executive officer.

He succeeds Maurizio La Noce, who will remain a senior adviser to the company’s energy platform. La Noce, a 12-year veteran of Mubadala, will report to Sultan Al Jaber, platform chief executive officer.

“Maurizio has been central to the transformation of Mubadala Petroleum into a fully fledged international oil and gas exploration and production company,” Al Jaber said. “In his new role, we will be able to draw on his extensive experience as Mubadala grows its presence in the global energy sector.”

Al Kaabi last year joined Mubadala from Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC), where during his 16-year career he led the company’s exploration activity and played a key role in the joint ventures established in Abu Dhabi, Mubadala says.

Mubadala is developing as operator the Manora and Nong Yao oil fields in Thailand (OGJ Online, Jan. 15, 2014; Sept. 5, 2014); and is engaged in predevelopment work to advance the substantial gas discoveries made over the summer made in Block SK320 in Malaysia (OGJ Online, June 23, 2014).

Mubadala was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mubadala Development Co. in June 2012. The company manages assets and operations spanning 12 countries with a primary geographic focus on the Middle East, Africa, and Central and Southeast Asia. Working interest production in 2013 totaled 387,000 boe/d.
