MARKET WATCH: Crude oil futures end week slightly higher

Crude oil futures prices in New York ended the week slightly higher, but still remained below $83/bbl.

Crude oil futures prices in New York ended the week slightly higher, but still remained below $83/bbl.

The New York Mercantile Exchange November crude oil contract increased 5¢ on Oct. 17, closing at $82.75/bbl. The December contract price gained 11¢ to $82.06/bbl.

The natural gas contract for November declined 3¢ to a rounded $3.77/MMbtu. The cash gas price at Henry Hub, La., closed at $3.72/MMbtu, losing 9¢.

Heating oil for November delivery was up 2.73¢ to a rounded $2.50/gal. Reformulated gasoline stock for oxygenate blending for November delivery was up 2.18¢ to a rounded $2.23/gal.

The December ICE contract for Brent crude oil rose 34¢ to close at $86.16/bbl, while the January contract rose 33¢ to $86.62/bbl. The ICE gas oil contract for November increased $8.75 to $735/tonne.

The average price for OPEC’s basket of 12 benchmark crudes was $83.19/bbl on Oct. 17, jumping $2.02.
