OAO Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corp. have signed a technical agreement for the cross-border section of the Power of Siberia natural gas trunkline.

The agreement, a supplement to the May 21 purchase and sale agreement on gas supplies via the eastern route, defines basic parameters of the section’s design, construction, and operation (OGJ Online, May 21, 2014).

“As of today, all the necessary documents on gas supplies to China have been signed, including the intergovernmental agreement,” said Alexey Miller, chairman of Gazprom’s management committee. “The construction of Power of Siberia is in full swing. We have a particular plan and specific deadlines to be met without fail.”

Miller signed the technical agreement Oct. 13 in Moscow with CNPC Vice-Pres. Wang Dongjin.

The Power of Siberia trunkline is designed for gas transmission from the Yakutia and Irkutsk production centers. The 30-year purchase and sale agreement provides for Russian gas supplies to China in the amount of 38 billion cu m/year.
