Surmont Energy Ltd., Calgary, has submitted an Oil Sands Conservation Act application with Alberta Energy Regulator for its Wildwood steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) project.
Project site is about 65 km south of Fort McMurray (OGJ Online, Oct. 5, 2012). AER said the project would have a maximum bitumen production capacity of 12,000 b/d from the McMurray formation.
The project would include 2 initial well pads with up to 7 horizontal SAGD well pairs on each pad, and a central processing facility. Initial production is expected within 3 years after construction begins. Estimated life of the project is 24 years.
AER said it is reviewing the OSCA application along with an Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act application.
