A wholly owned subsidiary of MOL Group, Budapest, plans to produce at least 50,000 boe/d of oil and natural gas from the Akri-Bijeel Block in the Kurdistan region of Iraq by 2017-18.
MOL Kelgran Ltd. has signed a field development plan with the Kurdish Ministry of Natural Resources covering the Bijell and Bakrman areas.
The operator declared the Bijeel-1 Jurassic discovery and Bakrman-1 Triassic discovery commercial last year and has been producing 10,000 boe/d in an extended well test in the Bijell area (OGJ Online, Nov. 4, 2013).
MOL Kelgran plans to add temporary, rented equipment to increase production from both areas to 35,000 boe/d in 2015.
Production increases beyond that will follow decisions about further drilling and installation of an export pipeline and central production facility.
