Karen Agustiawan, president director of PT Pertamina, has officially confirmed her plan to resign, ending her tenure effective Oct. 1.

“My resignation is based on personal reasons and also for the sake of the leadership regeneration process in Pertamina,” she said.

Agustiawan has been a Pertamina board member for 6½ years, where she served as upstream director for 1 year and for 5½ years as president director (OGJ Online, Feb. 13, 2009).

“I have to emphasize here that my resignation process has been ongoing since early 2013. When my tenure was about to be extended, I had also tried to refuse with the same reasons, personal reasons and the necessity of leadership regeneration in a corporation. Thus, I expect that this resignation is not linked to anything outside those reasons moreover related to politics and be politicized,” she said.

Before Oct. 1, Pertamina’s board of commissioners will appoint one of the members of its board of directors to serve as acting president director until the definitive one is appointed.
