Pemex Exploration & Production has let a contract to GE Oil & Gas for the supply and installation of surface wellheads and trees at Ayatsil heavy oil field under development in the Campeche Sound offshore Mexico.

Pemex has said it plans to develop Ayatsil field with as many as four platforms and adjacent Tekel heavy oil field with one platform, all to be tied to a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. It plans to drill 43 wells in the project. Water depths in the area are 115-123 m.

The company expects production from the Ayatsil-Tekel complex to peak at about 100,000 b/d in 2018-19 from proved, probable, and possible reserves estimated at 757 million boe of 12° gravity oil.

The FPSO also is to handle oil and gas production from nearby Maloob, Ku, and Akal fields.
