OxyChem names Peterson as president

Occidental Petroleum Corp. has selected Robert Peterson as president of wholly owned subsidiary Occidental Chemical Corp. (OxyChem), effective Aug. 1. He succeeds Chuck Anderson, who will retire July 31.

Occidental Petroleum Corp. has selected Robert Peterson as president of wholly owned subsidiary Occidental Chemical Corp. (OxyChem), effective Aug. 1. He succeeds Chuck Anderson, who will retire July 31.

Peterson has spent 18 years at OxyChem, most recently serving as senior vice-president, basic chemicals, since 2009. Before elevating to his current position, he was vice-president, vinyls, during 2006-08.

Anderson, who began his career with OxyChem in 1981, was promoted to president in 2006, overseeing projects such as the construction of a chlor-alkali plant in Tennessee and a joint venture to build an ethylene cracker in Ingleside, Tex.
