Continental reports management changes

Continental Resources Inc., Oklahoma City, has named Gary E. Gould as senior vice-president, operations and resource development. He succeeds Richard E. Muncrief, who resigned to take the position of president and chief executive officer at Tulsa independent WPX Energy Inc.

Continental Resources Inc., Oklahoma City, has named Gary E. Gould as senior vice-president, operations and resource development. He succeeds Richard E. Muncrief, who resigned to take the position of president and chief executive officer at Tulsa independent WPX Energy Inc.

Gould joined Continental in 2013 and has served as vice-president, resource development. He has more than 25 years of industry experience, including in 10 unconventional oil and gas plays managing resource development, operations, completions, production engineering, and drilling.

“Under Gary’s leadership, we expect ongoing operational excellence as we implement our 5-year plan to triple the size of the company,” said Harold G. Hamm, Continental chairman and chief executive officer.

Continental, which last week reported the Bakken’s 1 billionth bbl of production, is the top operator in the play, with more than 1.2 million acres, the largest remaining reserves, and the most advanced delineation program in the deeper Three Forks benches (OGJ Online, Apr. 2, 2014; Apr. 28, 2014).
