Houston midstream company Genesis Energy LP reported it is conducting a binding open season to solicit shipper interest on a crude oil transportation pipeline starting at the Express Pipeline LLC terminal in Casper, Wyo., and delivering to Genesis Energy’s existing operational Pronghorn unit train-loading facility north of Douglas, Wyo.
The project will include an origin pump station in Casper, a future intermediate pump station, and about 70 miles of pipeline.
The proposed line offers shippers optionality to transport crude oil from the Express Pipeline to Pronghorn—the only rail-loading facility in the emerging Powder River basin served by both BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.
If Genesis chooses to move forward, the pipeline is expected to be in service by mid-2015.
The open season will end on May 30.
